reSIDue User Guide – Getting Started

First Launch

When you first open reSIDue, you’ll see the main interface with:

  • Voice Control Area: Three columns for Voice 1, Voice 2, and Voice 3
  • Wavetable Editors: Six panels for different SID registers (FREQ, PULS, CTRL, A/D, S/R, Filter/Vol)
  • Patch Manager: Top section with patch selection and management controls
  • Oscilloscope: Real-time audio visualization on the right
  • MIDI Indicator: Shows incoming MIDI activity
  • Chip Model Selector: ComboBox below MIDI indicator for switching between MOS 6581 and MOS 8580

Quick Start Guide

  • Load a Patch: Click the patch dropdown and select “Bass” or “Lead”
  • Select Chip Model: Choose MOS 6581 (original) or MOS 8580 (newer) from the chip model icon
  • Enable Voice 1: Ensure Voice 1 MIDI channel is set to “Any”
  • Play MIDI: Send MIDI notes – you should hear authentic SID sounds
  • Compare Chip Models: Try switching between MOS 6581 and MOS 8580 while playing
  • Explore Wavetables: Click in the wavetable editors to see the programmed sequences
  • Experiment: Try changing values in the FREQ or PULS wavetables
